Hi everyone:
Is anyone familiar with design of machinery used to grind edge on
disks made from glass, ceramics (brittle materials), sapphire, etc.? I
particularly need help with design of the rotary clamp used on
edging machines to hold the disk in place during rotation. If anyone
knows and/or can recommend anyone familiar with the manner and issues
involved in this process, I would appreciate any help. I am
particularly interested in plano/plano blanks, and clamp operates in
vertical orientation. It uses a hydraulic cylinder to clamp, as
opposed to vacuum or air pressure.
