    need a motor switch

Kindly let me know which type of switch should I use in the following case.  I have a motor which can move in both clock wise and anti clock wise directions.  It is used to pull a stand with wheels horizontally from A to B and again send the same from B to A.  I want that the change of the motor's direction from clock wise to anti clockwise should be done by the body of the stand as it comes from A to B and from B to A.

    With regards

    Re: need a motor switch

    Hello Mr. Kumar,

There are several ways to approach your question but I suppose the simplist way is to use two "double Throw" switch coupled with a reversible latching relay. I, suspecting the horsepower of the motor would be high, two 400 series miniture snap action switch wired as such to control the field current to the relay. For even more current capability I would suggest the 300 series snap action switch. Both of these can be viewed online:

Of course, there are more sophisticated methods using digital controls. The above is a more down and dirty, straight to the point control.
